AIC International School 2017
Welcome to the website of the 2017 edition of the Italian Association for Crystallography (AIC) International Crystallography School (AICS2017). This year's school title will be "Bridging the gap between cryo-EM and crystallography". The school will be held in Pavia, Italy, from 3 to 6 September 2017.
AICS2017 "Bridging the gap between cryo-EM and crystallography" will offer the opportunity to young researchers in biochemistry or structural biology at the PhD/postdoctoral level to approach the fundamental questions arising from the cryo-EM experiment setup. Central topics will include evaluation sample suitability for analysis and its preparation, choice of appropriate instrumentation for single particle, tomography or electron diffraction approaches, data processing and interpretation of results. A showcase of recent results will contour the tutorial sessions.
Structural biology is living the golden age of methodological innovation. This revolution is clearly headed by the strong march of cryo-EM, which offers tempting options to molecular scientists, to tackle more and more challenging biological questions. Cryo-EM has been defined method of the year 2015 and its contributions to structural biology are well recognized by the scientific community. Celebrations and sessions dedicated to cryo-EM will also occur in the upcoming IUCr meeting 2017, in Hyderabad.
IUCr Scientific Freedom Policy Statement
The Organizing Committee of the AIC International Crystallography School 2017 shall observe the basic policy of non-discrimination and affirms the right and freedom of scientists to associate in international scientific activity without regard to such factors as ethnic origin, religion, citizenship, language, political stance, gender, sex or age, in accordance with the Statutes of the International Council for Science.
At this School no barriers will exist which would prevent the participation of bona fide scientists.
